Syed Hassan Nawab

Syed Hassan Nawab is a Mechanical Engineer, with an MBA in Finance from USA, having over 30 years wide ranging experience in project finance, oil/gas and power sectors, both in public & private sector institutions in Pakistan.

Having in depth knowledge of Pakistan's energy sector and issues relating to energy planning and security, he has been the key player in formulating energy plans and policies for private sector investment in energy and power projects.

He has been the team leader in contract negotiations with private power producers, gas suppliers, EPe contractors, investors and lenders in the development, financing, construction and commissioning of energy and power projects.

Mr Nawab has lead the successful conclusion of agreements for the import of natural gas from Iran, and is now engaged in finalizing the project financing and construction strategy for this mega project.

   

Vijay Sethu

Vijay has over 20 years of experience in investment banking, mergers and acquisitions and project finance across Asia, Australasia, Europe, North America and Latin America. Prior to becoming CEO of the Advisor, Vijay spent 4 years with Australia New Zealand (“ANZ”) Investment Bank based in Singapore, first as the Head of Power and later as Executive Director, Head of Project and Structured Finance for Asia. During this period, Vijay 's team advised on and arranged numerous debt transactions for high profile energy, infrastructure and resources projects, winning over 20 “Deals of the Year” awards. Most recently in 2005, his team won the “Asian Project Finance Bank of the Year” award by Global Finance.

Prior to joining ANZ Investment Bank in Singapore, Vijay was Vice President and Head of Mergers and Acquisitions for Asia Pacific, Africa and China, at Enron. During this time, he was involved in numerous oil, gas and power asset transactions. Earlier, Vijay spent an initial 8 years with ANZ Investment Bank in Melbourne, London and New York. His last position was Head of Global Structured Finance for the Americas, where the bank focused particularly on Latin America and successfully completed several resources, oil and gas and power transactions. Vijay spent the earlier part of his career with KPMG Peat Marwick in New Zealand and Exxon in Malaysia.

He has an MBA from Auckland University, is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in the UK, an Associate of the New Zealand Society of Chartered Accountants and also qualified with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in the UK.

   
Rozhan Anwar B. Abdul Halim

Rozhan Anwar B. Abdul Halim
is currently the General Manager of Local Capability Development Department, Group Supply Chain Management, PETRONAS.

He holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Economics from the London School Of Economics (LSE), England.

He joined PETRONAS 15 years ago and has served in various capacities in different aspects of the oil industry within the Organization including PETRONAS’s trading arm (PETCO) and the Group’s Treasury Division.

His current position requires him to focus on promoting and driving capability development of Malaysian suppliers/vendors in line with PETRONAS’s Group of Companies objectives and the national economic agenda in order to maximize effective investment and participation.

   

Namik Kosaric
Principal Consultant
Asset Reliability and Integrity Management, Malaysia


Namik Kosaric is a Canadian Professional Engineer with experience with PETRONAS, Bahrain Petroleum Company and ESSO Petroleum Canada in reliability improvements and maintenance cost reduction, mechanical design, project engineering and technical support of Oil Refineries and Oil Production Facilities.

For the last 8 years in PETRONAS Namik Kosaric was responsible for providing technical and knowledge leadership in development, coordination and implementation of plant reliability and integrity improvements and program to PETRONAS OPU’s  to improve and support the overall Petroliam Nasional Berhad objectives.

In BAPCO, Namik Kosaric, pioneered and implemented a root cause failure analysis of lost profit opportunities and chronic failures using a multi-disciplinary teams to improve plant reliability, availability, safety and to ultimately reduce operating costs. Significant cost savings were achieved as a result of over 200 completed investigations. 

During very fruitful 23 years with ESSO PETROLEUM CANADA, Namik Kosaric held various management and technical positions in design, operation and maintenance.
   

Dr Ruengsak Thiratsakul
Deputy Director (Petroleum & Alternative Fuels)
PTIT, Thailand


Dr Ruengsak was appointed to head the Petroleum and Alternative Energy Division with Petroleum Institute of Thailand (PTIT) since early 2007. In his current role, he is responsible for developing energy database and forecasting model for Thailand Energy Strategy Study funded by National Economics Social Development Board of Thailand.  He has to conduct investigation on LPG Logistics and Pricing Floatation Study funded by Energy Policy and Planning Office under the Ministry of Energy.  His other responsibilities include conducting investigation on Ethanol/Gasohol Logistics Improvement Study funded by Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency under the Ministry of Energy and conducting investigation on Oil Terminal Optimisation Study funded by Department of Energy Business under the Ministry of Energy.

Prior to joining PTIT, Dr Ruengsak held several high positions within Rayong Purifier Public Company Limited with his latest position as the General Manager, International Trade Function where he developed new international markets for petroleum products and designed marketing strategy and implemented action plan. Moreover, Dr Ruengsak had over 10 years experience working with both Exxon Research & Engineering, Florham Park, NJ, USA and Esso Standard Thailand Limited, Sriracha Refinery, Thailand as Optimizable Refinery Coordinator in developing the refinery LP model for Esso Refinery and the Raw Material Acquisition Manager in charge of evaluation of economical crude and feedstock for the refinery to achieve highest refinery margins.

Dr Ruengsak earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering in 1996 and Master of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering in 1991, both from University of Toronto, Canada.  Prior to that, Dr Ruengsak holds a Master degree of Science in Manufacturing Administration from Western Michigan University, USA and a Bachelor degree of Science in Chemical Engineering from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.  He is also a guest lecturer at Chulalongkorn University, The Petroleum and Petrochemical College, King Monkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) and National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA).
   

Raja Kiwan

Raja Kiwan is a senior analyst with the Markets & Country Strategies Practice which houses PFC Energy’s expertise in oil market analysis, country risk and petroleum sector policy.  Based in Dubai, his work involves analyzing Asian and Gulf energy markets and advising clients on the Middle East’s energy systems, government policies and their political economies.  Raja was previously a research analyst at Energy Intelligence where he focused on the region’s upstream and downstream sectors. His work is regularly published and cited in international media and he often participates in industry conferences as a panelist/speaker.  Raja has a Masters in International Business Law from the London School of Economics and an undergraduate degree in Business Law.
   
Nazery Khalid

Nazery Khalid is a Senior Fellow at Maritime Institute of Malaysia’s (MIMA), a maritime policy think-tank.  The thrust of his research is in the field of maritime economics, with a focus on ports, shipping, multimodal transport, freight logistics, offshore oil and gas, maritime supply chain, and maritime trade issues. 

Nazery has presented talks and papers at many international conferences on a wide range of maritime issues.  His research findings and views on various maritime issues and developments are often quoted in the media.  To date, he has published over 100 articles, research papers, commentaries and chapters in books which have appeared in various publications and journals.  He has also authored books on ship financing and multimodal transport development in Malaysia and has edited a conference proceedings, all published by MIMA.

Nazery holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Ottawa University, Kansas, USA and an MBA from International Islamic University, Malaysia.
   
Izwan Ibrahim

Izwan Ibrahim is the Head of Business & Client Management for iPerintis Sdn. Bhd., an end-to-end ICT Solution Provider to some of the largest Oil & Gas companies in the region. Prior to iPerintis, Izwan’s experience includes working in both upstream and downstream ICT functions for PETRONAS. He has since played key strategic & operational roles in the ICT Transformation for PETRONAS, one of the world’s largest Oil & Gas companies.

He currently oversees the client’s management and growth in business for iPerintis. On another front, Izwan is also deeply involved in shaping and formulating the ICT strategic direction for clients under his purview.

Izwan holds a Master of Science in Information Technology & Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York.
   

David Tyler

David Tyler joined the World LP Gas Association (WLPGA) team in March 2009 as Director, Projects & Business Practices. His primary role is to further consolidate the WLPGA’s programs on innovation and to drive the global Autogas initiative. This includes working closely with industry members on the GLOTEC (Global Technology Network) and GAIN (Global Autogas Industry Network) Committees. He is also responsible for the Asian/Pacific membership group. He brings with him a deep knowledge and experience of the LP Gas industry on a global scale after working 25 years with Shell International in senior Marketing Management positions including Commercial Director in Indonesia. In 1996, David established his own LP Gas consultancy business in Australia and since then has successfully undertaken strategic projects in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Asia and Australia. David has lived and worked in many countries including the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Australia, Hong Kong and China and reinforces the global dimension of the WLPGA

   

Sarfraz Dairkee

A hands-on professional with over 25 years practice in a wide range of technologies with multidisciplinary experience in management, design & development, manufacturing, operation and maintenance. He is a Mechanical, Marine engineer and an alumni of IIM- Ahmedabad and is a Certified Energy Manager, Certified Building Commissioning Professional, LEED Accredited Professional and Pumping System Assessment Tool Specialist.

Beginning his career on board ships, he switched to Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Systems in the early 80’s and was instrumental in launching India’s first commercial Windmill, and in developing Solar tower and Vapor Absorption Refrigerator in early 80’s. He was awarded by Voltas for his work on the development of computer programs for heat load calculations, simulation of air-conditioner and bus air conditioner design. He has to his credit development manufacture and marketing of several new pumps and submersible motors and a computerized pump selection and testing program in mid eighties.

For the past 15 years in the UAE, he has been working on pumping systems, desalination, filtration and sewage treatment plants and PLC – VFD controls for pumping, AC&R and other energy intensive systems. For the last few years he has initiated energy audits, commissioning, and Green Building services in the region.

He is one of the founding board members of the Emirates Green Building Council and also heads the Technical Sub Committee of Water Efficiency.

A Senior Member of the Association of Energy Engineers, ASHRAE and International Desalination Association he is currently working at MAHY Khoory & Co. LLC, Dubai,  as General Manager, Corporate Development & Engineering.
   

Faizah Jamaludin

Faizah Jamaludin is a Partner of SKRINE, one of the largest and oldest law firms in Malaysia.  She heads the firm’s Oil & Gas Practice.
Faizah’s experience in oil & gas related transactions ranges from advising on foreign direct investments and licensing in Malaysia to the negotiation and documentation of PSCs, farm-ins, JOAs, tender processes and procurement, acquisitions, sales contracts; and the purchase, financing, construction, registration and charter of vessels.  She is a member of SKRINE’s Islamic Finance Practice and recently acted for an oil major in the Islamic financing of its petrochemical plant in Malaysia.
Faizah is the Malaysian representative of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and an Executive Committee member of AIPN’s Australia-Asia Pacific Regional Chapter.  She is a member of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce (MICCI) Domestic Trade Committee and an Executive Committee member of the Tunku Kurshiah College OGA.  She is presently the Honorary Secretary of the Malaysian Inner Temple Alumni.

Faizah is regular speaker in Malaysia and internationally on shipping, oil & gas and energy resources and has authored a number of articles in these areas.  Faizah is a Barrister of the Inner Temple, London.  She was called to the English Bar in 1990 and the Malaysian Bar in 1994.  Before joining SKRINE, Faizah worked for 8 years as in-house legal counsel of the ExxonMobil subsidiaries in Malaysia and was a legal officer with the Office of the Building Societies Ombudsman in London.
   

Mr. Richard David Scott

Richard David Scott, a British national, has previously worked with Citigroup as Regional Head for Country Risk Management for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to this he worked as Risk Manager for the Smith Barney private equity finance business for the Asia Pacific region and Europe.

Earlier, Mr. Scott was also the Director and Head of the Investment Finance Business platform of Citibank Private Bank London, and at Saudi American Bank he was the Senior Credit Officer covering the Central and Western regions, energy, public sector and financial institutions. Before joining Samba, Mr. Scott was Citibank's Country Risk Manager in Russia.
